Farmers association
The men and women farmers in Kannivadi region has been mobilised and organised under Reddiyarchatram Seed Growers Association since 2000. The organization has been focussing on promoting sustainable agricultural practices and horizontal network among farming communities. The company provides technical, input, financial, marketing and insurance services to its members.
It organizes training and capacity building programme to the farmers depending up on the need and serve as a resource center. It developed farmer based training materials and organised Open and Distance Learning based programmes with the support of Commonwealth Of Learning (COL). The company is running a Village Knowledge Center, which is acting as a Hub centre and manages B type weather station, which is recognised by the Indian Meteorological Department as Agro Meteorological Field Unit (AFMU).
Apart from this the center provides need based information on agricultural market prices and arrivals, availability of fertilizers, electricity timings, weather forecast, best farming practices, new varieties of important crops, education and upcoming training opportunities, plant and veterinary pest and disease prevention measures, financial and insurance services and government schemes.
